Why a desktop app instead of a server panel
Most VPS managers (cPanel-style panels, Coolify, CapRover, Dokploy) run their own management service on your server. That service is one more thing to patch, secure and keep off the public internet. DeployOS works the other way around.

Everything happens over SSH from your machine. No agent, no daemon, no web admin UI exposed on the VPS.
Credentials stay on your machine
SSH keys and secrets live in your OS keychain (macOS Keychain or Windows Credential Manager). DeployOS has no backend to upload them to.

Apps run as ordinary Docker containers behind a standard reverse proxy. Close the app, uninstall it, and they keep serving traffic.

Questions
What is a VPS manager?
A VPS manager is a tool that handles the operational work of running a virtual private server: installing Docker, wiring domains and HTTPS, deploying apps, running databases and backups, and monitoring. It fills the gap between a bare server and a hosting panel.
How is a desktop VPS manager different from a web-based one?
A web-based manager is a service running on your server, so it has to be kept updated and protected. A desktop manager runs on your computer and reaches the server over SSH, so the server carries no management surface and your credentials never leave your machine.
Does it run on Mac and Windows?
Yes: macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel) and Windows 10/11 (64-bit). One license covers either. Linux is on the roadmap.
Do I need to know Docker or Linux?
No. Simple mode hides the infrastructure; Advanced mode exposes every setting when you want it.
Is it really a one-time price?
Yes. Your license works forever and includes a year of updates. There is nothing hosted by DeployOS to pay for. After the first year you only renew if you want new versions.
